Morris, age 93, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City following a sudden stroke.

Celebration of life services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church where the family will receive friends until time of services and immediately following during a time of food and fellowship. Harry B. Gray, 91, went to be with the Lord Monday, June 7, 2010 at Mercy Hospice i Johnston. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, June 11, at Ankeny Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Slater Baptist Church, 601 Story Street Slater, IA, with burial in White Oak Cemetery in Elkhart. Harry was born September 3, 1918 to Ben and Martha Gray in Bunker Hill, Kansas.

He attended a number of Theological Schools and earned his Th. D. from Dallas Theological Seminary in Texas. He served at Faith Baptist Bible College and Seminary for 45 years. Harry was married to Gladys Charlton September 1, 1972.

He was on the accrediting commission of the American Association of Bible Colleges and a member of the Evangelical Theological Society. Survivors include his wife, Gladys of Ankeny; three children, Jenetta, Paul and Melody; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Tong; and a sister. DONALD C. "DON" BYERS Newton Don, 84, died on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A Celebration of Life is planned for 10 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 13, 2010, in the Garden Room at Park Centre. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Newton Center for Arts and Artists may be left at visitation or at the church the morning of the service.

Don, the son of Charley K. and Agnes Evelyn (Myhra) Byers, was born on July 10, 1925 in Fargo, North Dakota. As a child, Don moved to New London, Iowa where he graduated from high school. Don then received his BA from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 1949 and his JD from Drake Univer- sity Law School in 1951.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Don was united in marriage with Doris K. "Dori" Byers on November 28, 1947 in New London. In 1951, they made their home in Newton, Iowa.

Don did Private Law Practice in Newton from 1951-1953, was the Maytag Staff Attorney, Assistant General Counsel from 1953-1974, and then was the Maytag General Counsel, Secretary from 1974-1990. Don's past associations include: the American Bar Association, Iowa Bar Association, American Society of Corporate Secretaries, Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers, Chairman of the Maytag Political Action Committee, President of the Maytag Management Club, Newton Community School Board from 1964-1973, Iowa Association for School Boards from 1964-1973, President of the Terrace Hill Foundation, President of the Heartland Rail Corporation, Board Member of Iowa Interstate Railroad, Secretary and Board Member of Iowa Peace Institute, which has since dissolved in to a Peace Studies Program at Grinnell College, and President and Board Member of the FINE Foundation, an Iowa educational research group. His current associations include: Board Member and Chair in 1985-1986 of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, United Methodist Church, both local and statewide positions, Board Member and Chair from 1989-1992 of Drake University, President from 2005-2009 of the Ray Society at Drake University (Life Long Learning), Board Member of Iowa Coordinating Council for Higher Education, Board Member and past President of Wesley Retirement Services, Board Member and past President of Project AWAKE, Vice President and Board Member of The Arts Connection of Jasper County, Chairman and Board Member of The Iowa Sculpture Festival, and Chairman and Board Member of the Centre for Arts and Artist. Don had been awarded through the years the Order of the Coif (Law); Newton Education Association, "Friend of Education Newton Chamber of Commerce, 1990 Community Service Award; Iowa Wesleyan College, Distinguished Service Award; Drake University, Distinguished Law Graduate in 1990, Distinguished Service Award in1993, and Honorary Doctor of Law Degree in 1993; National Society of Fund Raising Executives Iowa Chapter, Outstanding Volunteer Fund Raiser in 1999; and the Newton Rotary Club, Vocational Service Award on June 29, 2005. In addition to his many affiliations, Don enjoyed being with his family, the mountains, where he hiked and skied, traveling, exercising, painting, photography, and the arts.

Those left to honor Don's memory are his wife, Doris "Dori" Byers of Newton; one son, Alan (Dawn) Byers of Fort Collins, Colorado; three daughters, Kathleen (Robert) Savit of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Karen (Kent) Bonte of Clermont, Iowa, and Annette (David) Askam of Terrace Park, Ohio; his eleven grandchildren, Alexandra Lee Hobough, Seth Bonte, Michelle Byers Wimmer, Eli Savit, Aaron Savit, Anson Bonte, Jeff Byers, Daniel Byers, Gavriel Savit, Charlotte Askam, and Audrey Askam; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas. Wallace Newton, lowa FUNERAL HOME Moines, Iowa. Ralph was born June 4, 1927 in Waukee, Iowa in the farmhouse of his parents Albert and Marion (Morris) Kochheiser. In 1931 the family moved to a farmstead north of Ankeny, where he resided until his death.

He attended school in Ankeny and graduated in 1945. Ralph was a World War II veteran. He enlisted in the Army in 1945. Ralph spent three and half years attending Iowa State University. He then returned home to help with the farming operation after his Father's death.

In addition to farming full time, Ralph worked for many years at the A.M.F. plant in Des Moines formerly known as Western Tool. Ralph was a private, quiet man with a great sense of humor. He had a committed constitution to finish a job once it was started. He was an avid history buff and had a passion for reading.

He disliked conflict, commotion and dishonesty. He was a man of his word. For years he would have farm work done on a "Gentleman's He quite simply was "the voice of It was the little things in life that meant the most to Ralph. Along with his family, it was truly the quiet and peace that his farm afforded him that brought him the greatest happiness. Ralph was united in marriage to Marcella (Lint) on June 20, 1954.

They treasured 55 years of marriage together. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marcella and four children. Daughters Audrey (Neil) Ellis of Lakeside, Texas, Linda (Jon) Donahue and Sharon (Mike) Kuchenbecker of Ankeny. One son, Alan (Dana) Kochheiser of Omaha, Nebraska. Ten grandchildren Marc, Mallarie, and Bailey Kochheiser.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Nancy Kaye. A celebration of Ralph's life will be held at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street in Ankeny at 10:30 a.m.

She was born on March 5, 1927 in Omaha, NE to Roy B. Woods and Lillian Burns Woods.

She was the fourth of eight children. Naomi graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing and worked at Des Moines General as an LPN and later at the Gentec Medical Supply Co. She took on the care of her parents and her business of childcare, retiring after the death of her parents. In her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening and also cared for her neighbor Mr. Dale Reeves of Des Moines.

She was a member of the Evergreen Church of Christ and enjoyed the fellowship of Christians. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Paul Woods. She leaves behind many life-long friends. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, on September 18, 1918, the daughter of Harry and Ada (Clarkson) Snowden. Ada married Robert H. Diefenderfer on February 15, 1941. Following Robert's service in the U.S. Navy, they made their home in Plymouth Meeting, PA, for 40 years.

In 1983, Ada moved to Johnston. Ada is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Steven) Zorn; grandson, David Zorn; nieces, nephews, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Harry and husband, Robert. A visitation is planned for Friday, June 11, 2010, at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Pastor Fred Obold, nephew of Ada, will lead a Service of Remembrance at 5:30 p.m.
