Keto Candied Bacon Recipe (1)

Keto candied bacon (sometimes called million dollar bacon) is sweet, savory, smoky, and salty all at the same time… not to mention crunchy and caramelized and basically irresistible. Candied anything would normally be off limits for those avoiding sugar or following keto, but not anymore. This version is 100% sugar-free bacon, but you’d never guess when you taste it!

While bacon may be the star of candied bacon recipe (based on the popular method of baking bacon here), this version is really special because it’s made with Besti Brown. It tastes and acts like brown sugar (complete with naturally sourced brown sugar flavor and the same moisture!), but doesn’t have the carbs and sugar to go along with it. And it gives this bacon incredibly sweet and crispy flavor!

Sugar-Free Bacon FAQs

Is sugar-free bacon keto?

Most sugar-free bacons will be keto, but you’ll always want to check the nutrition facts.

Is candied bacon keto?

Most candied bacon recipes are made with brown sugar and would not be considered keto.

This recipe uses sugar-free Besti Brown instead of brown sugar that gives it all the brown sugar flavor and sweetness, without any carbs and sugar.

Can I use a different sweetener?

I recommend using Besti Brown for best results – it’s the only one that will impart a brown sugar flavor with no aftertaste or cooling sensation. You could use another granulated sweetener like allulose or erythritol, but it won’t have the caramel flavor that Besti Brown imparts.

Can you make keto bacon candy ahead?

You can make it ahead, but it takes just 5 minutes to prep, so I recommend baking it right before serving so that it comes out of the oven nice and hot!

If you do make the sugar-free bacon ahead, store it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the oven at 350 degrees F, until hot.

Are any brown sweeteners also ok (erythritol or monk fruit w/o allulose) also OK?

    Reply

    • Maya | Wholesome Yum

Hi Lourdes, Other brown sweeteners will likely turn out gritty, as they don’t caramelize like real brown sugar does. We can only recommend Besti Brown for this recipe.
