24. Terminal

Let’s agree on one thing. It doesn’t matter if the movie is a flop or a success. Margot Robbie’s performance is just non-negotiable. The terminal was a box office bomb and was criticized for almost every aspect, like narration, direction, screenplay, and pacing.

The only admiration the film gained was Robbie’s performance and the visual style of the movie. The movie is a thriller where the lives of two assassins interlaced with each other. An ill teacher, a custodian, and a waitress (who was living a double life) became a part of a murder plan.

22. Suicide Squad (2016)

Where do we even start talking about this one? The movie has created a buzz around the globe for its cast and story and everything but failed to amuse the fans. The movie with the most mixed reviews.Suicide Squad started with a good tone, but it later turned into something unexpected.

Being the third installment of the12 Vintage Anime To Watch in 2023, fans had a lot of expectations. The film was about the anti-heroes going on a black ops mission to save the world under the secret government agency.

Anti-heroes like Joker, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang, El Diablo, Killer Croc, Slipknot, and Katana are doing good work (in their way) to save the world and to reduce their life sentence, TBH, because you know, they were imprisoned.

The story seemed to have so much potential but didn’t come out as expected. It received a lot of bad comments for the direction and narration of the story. However, she was praised for the cast and characters.

The music and the character of Harley Quinn were the only things that no one could say a bad thing about. Her character was the cherry on top. Maybe it was the only thing that made us stick to our screens till the end. Even David Ayer said that he apologizes for the mistreatment of the character.

This movie started the #ReleaseTheAyerCut. Because, as we know, the movie was facing a lot of criticism, Ayer announced that they might release a director’s cut of it, but Ann Sarnoff denied it, and Ayer handed the legacy of Suicide Squad to James Gunn.

21. Z for Zachariah

Adapted from the book of the same name (1974) by Robert C. O’Brien, Z for Zachariah is a thriller sci-fi. The plot is not the same as the book but is loosely based on it. It also reflects the plot of 1959’s The World, The Flesh and the Devil.

Z for Zechariah is a post-apocalyptic movie where two survivors, Ann and Loomis, find each other. They were getting comfortable when another man named Caleb disturbed the equation. Caleb is a white man, Ann is a white woman, and Loomis is a black man.

The nurse, the black engineer, and the white man had to find ways and help each other to survive. Thoughts were exchanged, truths were told, and tragedies took place. The movie received positive reviews, especially for Margot’s performance as Ann.

20. Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey

Again a movie with a lot of mixed reviews and views, but one thing that no one could deny was the performance of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey, AKA Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is the eighth movie in the DC Extended Universe and a sequel to Suicide Squad 2016.

The story follows four years after the defeat of Enchantress and Joker breaking up with her. Harley had adopted her coping mechanisms (well, changing hair is every girl’s coping mechanism) and, after getting drunk, kind of made a scene at Roman Sionis, the crime lord’s nightclub making him her enemy.

All the more, Harley Quinn, Helena Bertinelli, Dinah Lance, and Renee Montoya allied together to save Cassandra Cain. GO, GIRL, POWER! With such a great cast and an all-women lead role, the movie was expected to be a blast, but something’s expectations made the outcome look less. The movie was nominated for 57 awards, of which it won 12 and 2 runner-ups.

2. Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

A movie that Tarantino himself agreed is his best movie in The Howard Stern Show in November 2022. Who are we to argue on that? Only Tarantino could slay out such a vast cast, concept, story, and so many easter eggs, cultural references, historical accuracy, character controversies, and references to his other movies. The movie is bliss for the people who loved 60s Hollywood.

The story doesn’t revolve around one person. The screen time given to every character was almost similar. Moreover, the story shows the struggle of an actor who is trying to cope with the fast-changing Hollywood film industry in 1969 in Los Angeles. The final moments of the film are a perfect example of Hollywood’s golden age.

The narration and screenplay is the most appreciated aspect of the film. Keeping up with so many surprises won’t have been easy. Inspired by true events and characters, merging them into fairy tales created a whole new era for Quentin Tarantino.

Some critics from The Hollywood Reporter called this movie “Tarantino’s love letter to the ’60s LA,” which defines the movie in one line. Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood was nominated for 190 awards and won 48, including Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt) and Best Production Design.

30 Best Movies and Shows of Margot Robbie - OtakuKart (29)

1. The Wolf of Wall Street

Based on the memoir of the same name by Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Street is Scorsese’s highest-grossing film. This movie was a breakthrough for Robbie. A movie that received criticism and love of the same amount. The film was nominated for a total of 82 awards and won 22 of them.

The explicit drug use, the use of curse words, and sexual content made The Wolf of Wall Street a topic of gossip. The film even set a Guinness World Record for the most instance of swearing words.

The story is about a stockbroker, Jordan Belfort. At first, he gets a job at L. F. Rothschild, but he loses his job because of the largest one-day stock market drop. Later, he finds himself at a boiler room brokerage firm, where he teaches his fellow workers about pump and dump (which surely is a fraud).

Cutting short, he later opened his own company Stratton Oakmont which was based on all the illegal terms we can use here. The story ends badly for him because of his drug exploitations and illegal work practices.
